Do I put my trust? I put my trust!
There's been something I've been worried about lately, just a waiting situation that I can't do anything about right now (Serenity Prayer, anyone?) but can't stop thinking about. This morning I had the words of SASB Chorus #73 going through my mind (and I sang it out loud in the shower!):
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust,
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust,
In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust.
Because of the wording, sometimes it sounds like, "DO I put my trust??"! While doing a search at www.salvationist.org, I found this great song by Charles Wesley (SASB #714):
1.But can it be that I should prove
Forever faithful to thy love,
From sin forever cease?
I thank thee for the blessed hope;
It lifts my drooping spirit up,
It gives me back my peace.
Chorus
He lives, He lives,
I know that my redeemer lives.
2.In thee, O Lord, I put my trust,
Mighty and merciful and just;
Thy sacred word is passed;
And I, who dare thy word receive,
Without committing sin shall live,
Shall live to God at last.
3.I rest in thine almighty power;
The name of Jesus is a tower
That hides my life above;
Thou canst, thou wilt my helper be;
My confidence is all in thee,
The faithful God of love.
4.Wherefore, in never-ceasing prayer,
My soul to thy continual care
I faithfully commend;
Assured that thou through life shalt save,
And show thyself beyond the grave
My everlasting friend.
Charles Wesley (1707-88)
Man, that's good stuff! Here's another good one, that I need to write more than you probably need to read it! This was especially important to me as we were preparing to go to Training, and hasn't lost a bit of its impact since then (it's the first verse of SASB #474):
All to Jesus I surrender,
All to him I freely give;
I will ever love and trust him,
In his presence daily live.
Sounds like a good deal to me!
