This Week, part two

I finally remembered the word I really wanted to include in my list of prayer requests:
submission

It was a big word for us at the Training School; some of us who knew all the Army stuff felt like maybe it was the main lesson for our time there. (Unfortunately, it was apparently forgotten by some after commissioning, I am extremely sad to say.)

"Do not be stiff-necked, as your fathers were; submit to the LORD. Come to the sanctuary, which he has consecrated forever. Serve the LORD your God." (2 Chronicles 30:8)

"Submit to God and be at peace with him." (Job 22:21)

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ." (Ephesians 5:19-21)

"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you." (Hebrews 13:17)

"The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness." (James 3:17-18)

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you." (James 4:7-8)

Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers--not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
Young men, in the same way be submissive to those who are older. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because,
"God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble."
Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of sufferings.

(1 Peter 5:2-8)

If you're still with me, and if you're looking for a way to pray for us, please pray that:
we would not be stiff-necked
we would be at peace with God
we would sing and make music in our hearts
we would always give thanks for everything
we would obey our leaders
we would be pure
we would raise a harvest of righteousness
we would resist the devil
God would come near to us
we would be willing and eager to serve
we would cast all our anxiety on God
we would be self-controlled and alert

Well, that should keep us all busy for a while!

Thanks, friends. We really appreciate your help. Please spread the word to other prayer warriors you know. Thank you!

Evelyn
